The sound of pipesClick here for student and other user informationClick here for teacher information

Sound the pipe with the closed end and then the one with an open end. What is your conclusion?

The pipe with the closed end gives a higher sound than the one with an open end, both being the same length.

For the sound created by the pipe the whole of the pipe is a limited wave space, where at the ends of the pipe the waves are continuously reflected. The standing waves created here determine the sound of the pipe.
